Hello and welcome to Natural Exploration, where I celebrate the beauty of amazing people in incredible places. I’m John Waller, and I’m thrilled to introduce you to my passion for outdoor boudoir photography based in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
How I Started My Boudoir Photography Journey in the Gila National Forest
My journey into photography began in the summer of 2023 while I was working on my master’s thesis in the Gila National Forest. Initially, my focus was on capturing the stunning landscapes and fascinating wildlife that surrounded me. As I spent countless hours in the woods, a friend suggested that I start recording my experiences through photos, knowing that such opportunities might not come often after completing my thesis.
What began as a hobby quickly evolved as I started taking pictures of my lab mates and friends during our fieldwork. This led to my first boudoir shoot with my partner, and soon after, I was photographing friends who were eager to explore this unique and empowering form of photography.
Embracing Outdoor Boudoir Photography in New Mexico
In January 2024, I decided to bring all these experiences together and focus primarily on outdoor boudoir photography. Using the breathtaking locations I had discovered in the Gila National Forest and the mountains around Las Cruces, I found a niche that combined my love for nature with my passion for capturing intimate and powerful moments.
Initially, I was skeptical about the transformative power of boudoir photography, as many photographers claimed. However, after hearing my friends share their experiences and seeing their reactions to the photos, I realized how empowering and healing this type of photography could be. It’s incredibly rewarding to help people feel powerful, sexy, and confident through the lens of my camera.

Future Plans: Expanding to Remote Boudoir Photography Locations
As Natural Exploration continues to grow, I’m excited about the possibility of offering camping or backpacking trips to reach some of the more remote and incredible locations I’ve discovered in the Gila National Forest. These extended trips will allow us to capture breathtaking moments in places few have the opportunity to see.
