I may be a little late sharing this one, but it was too good to leave in the archives.
This past Valentine’s Day, I had the privilege of working with Daizy on a shoot that was equal parts bold, moody, and magnetic. Our vision? A witchy Valentine’s Day set among the desert backdrop near Picacho Peak in Las Cruces, NM — a location that always delivers something a little wild and cinematic.
We arrived a bit later than planned and ended up missing golden hour, but that twist turned out to be a creative gift. It gave me a chance to test my new flash system, lean into some deeper shadows, and embrace the dusky light in a way I don’t always get to. The result: rich, dramatic contrasts that fit Daizy’s styling and energy perfectly.
A Cold Wind and Bold Styling
February in the New Mexico desert isn’t always forgiving — and this day was no exception. It was windy, cold, and definitely not ideal for minimal clothing. But Daizy handled the elements like a pro, channeling all that energy into each frame. Eventually, we made the call to finish the shoot indoors, and I’m glad we did — the mix of locations brought a whole new dimension to the session.
Her outfit was unforgettable: black wings, leather straps, heart-shaped pasties, and a sheer black top that brought just the right balance of edge and allure. The whole look leaned into dark Valentine’s energy — striking, seductive, and just a little wild.

Daizy: Model Spotlight
Daizy was a joy to work with — creative, fearless, and always in character. Her ability to hold a mood even as the wind kicked up and the temperature dropped made the whole shoot memorable. If you’d like to see more of her work or connect with her, you can find her info here.
Wrapping Up
Sometimes the best shoots are the ones that don’t go to plan. This session reminded me of the power of adaptability — and how much fun it can be when everyone shows up ready to create, no matter the weather or light.
I’m grateful to Daizy for braving the wind and helping bring this idea to life. Can’t wait for the next one.
